Bethlehem on the Ohio

Bethlehem is a small village nestled on the banks of the Ohio River between Jeffersonville and Madison, Indiana via Highway 62. Each year thousands of friendly folks come to see the fall colors and participate in the activities of our yearly festival. Funds raised from these activities are used for the maintenance of the historic three-room schoolhouse in Bethlehem. Everyone that attends Autumn on the River is helping to preserve the community’s rich historical past.

Historic Bethlehem Incorporated

Historic Bethlehem, Inc. is a non-profit (501c3) organization that has worked since 1993 to restore and maintain its only school house. The school was built in 1927 and represents three schools that preceded it dating back to the late 1790’s. Currently the school house serves as a community building that is filled with treasures from the past.

Get involved with Autumn of the River!

Even though the restoration is complete, the high cost of maintenance and insurance requires major funding. Much of this work continues today thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and generous support from the community. In the last 2 years, we have been able to replace the windows on the west side of the school.  We still have a long list of projects that will need to be done in the near future.  Your continued financial support is always needed and greatly appreciated. All contributions and proceeds from the festival go directly toward continued maintenance of the school and all gifts are tax deductible.

If you have any questions regarding participating in the festival or would more information, please feel free to contact Andrea Olis at 317-852-5003 or email at salerack@aol.com or Dave Abbott at 502-931-4669.
